Set up the phone before you read
01
Open the explicit language URL in Safari
Use the /en or /ru address so the language stays predictable. Keep the phone in a stable stand and wipe the front camera lens.
02
Place the script close to the lens
Use a comfortable font size and a narrow text column. Avoid placing the phone far below eye level; looking down is more noticeable than glancing at nearby text.
03
Check permissions only when recording
Choose Record video and then allow camera and microphone access if you want sound. You can use the reading mode without granting either permission.
Choose portrait or landscape deliberately
Portrait is a practical starting point for vertical social video. Landscape is often more suitable for a wide presentation or a conventional horizontal video. Make a short clip in the orientation you plan to publish and check the saved file, because a preview crop does not guarantee that every browser exports the same framing.
If Safari changes its top or bottom bars, the visible area can shift. Keep the record controls clear of the screen edges and recheck the cue after rotating the phone.
Safari permissions and saved files
Camera capture requires HTTPS and an iOS/Safari version that supports the browser media APIs used by the page. If access was denied, review Safari website permissions in iPhone Settings, return to the page and retry.
iOS may handle a downloaded video through a preview, a share sheet or Files depending on the browser version and the action Safari exposes. Test the exact save path on your phone before recording an important take.
Common questions
Does the iPhone teleprompter need camera access to read?
No. You can prepare and scroll a script without opening the camera. Safari asks for camera or microphone permission only after you choose the recording flow and request access.
Where does an iPhone recording go?
The take is initially a temporary file in the browser tab. The iOS save or share action depends on Safari and iOS, so make a test recording and confirm the file appears where you expect.
Will recording continue when Safari goes to the background?
Background behavior is controlled by iOS and Safari and may change between versions. Keep the page active during an important take unless you have tested background behavior on that device.
Practical guides
Try it with your own script
Open the tool, paste a script and start reading. You can enable the camera separately when you are ready to record.
